Terms of use

Last updated 25 September 2026

The short version

1. The agreement

These terms are an agreement between you and [[OWNER NAME AND ADDRESS]] ("we", "us") for the use of the Bucks app and this website. By creating an account or using Bucks you accept them. If you don't accept them, don't use Bucks.

These terms are the licence agreement for the app (the end user licence agreement, or EULA). Apple is not a party to it and is not responsible for the app or its content. Apple's standard terms for apps from the App Store also apply, and where these terms say nothing, Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement applies.

2. Who can use Bucks

3. Not financial advice

Bucks shows figures that you and other people enter, comparisons across groups, and simple calculations such as a budget or a debt plan. None of this is financial, tax, legal or investment advice, and nobody on Bucks is giving it to you as a professional. Comparisons are estimates built from what members enter and from public statistics, and they can be wrong. Think for yourself, and speak to a qualified adviser before making important decisions about your money.

4. Community rules: zero tolerance

Bucks works because people are honest about money. To keep it safe, there is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users. You must not post, send or do any of the following:

How we enforce it. Every post and comment can be reported, and anyone can block another member at once. We review reports and act on them within 24 hours: we remove content that breaks these rules and we suspend or remove the accounts of people who post it. We may also act without a report. Links in posts are blocked automatically.

5. Your content

You own what you post: your figures, words and photos. So that we can run Bucks, you give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, copy, display and share your content inside Bucks, to the people you chose (everyone, your followers, or everyone without your name). This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies other people have already received in their messages, which go when the conversation is deleted.

You are responsible for what you post, and you confirm you have the right to post it. A post is a snapshot: if you correct a month later, the post keeps the figures it had when you posted it, until you delete it.

6. Our app

We give you a personal, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Bucks app on Apple devices you own or control, as allowed by the App Store terms. Don't copy, modify, reverse engineer or resell the app, except where the law allows it. The Bucks name, logo and design belong to us.

7. Availability and changes

Bucks is free to use today. We work to keep it running, but we can't promise it will always be available or free of errors. We may change or stop features. If we ever introduce paid features, we will tell you first and nothing will be charged without your clear agreement.

8. Ending

9. Liability

Bucks is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for decisions you make based on what you see in Bucks, for content posted by other members, or for indirect losses. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or your statutory rights as a consumer.

10. Apple

You and we agree that Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app, and is not responsible for any claims relating to it, including product liability, legal compliance or intellectual property claims. If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price, if any. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you. You confirm you are not in a country subject to a US Government embargo and are not on any US Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.

11. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of [[GOVERNING LAW, e.g. Portugal]], and disputes go to the courts of [[COURTS, e.g. Lisbon]]. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and can bring a claim in your local courts.

12. Changes to these terms

If we change these terms, we will update the date at the top and, for changes that matter, tell you in the app before they apply. If you keep using Bucks after that, you accept the new terms.
